At age 7, Samara Byrd took her first dance class and realized that she fell in love with dance at age 2 but loving dance wouldn’t be enough. She had to wait for dance to fall in love with her back and slowly but surely it did. She started her dance training at D’shays school of dance located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was born and raised.

 

Now at 22 years old , she is a graduate from Temple University and received her BFA in dance, in May 2020.

 

Samara has trained at summer intensives such as DCNS ( Death Camp No Survivors) in 2018. She trained in genres such as Ballet, Jazz, Hip-hop, Modern, and African under Dara Meredith and LaCeda Nelson. She was accepted into a hip-hop Residency with Kyle and Dinita Clark in 2018. The residency was for a month and she studied Hip-hop, locking, and whacking.

 

She was involved in a collegiate dance company named D2D:Dare to Dance in which she had been a member, choreographer, and performer, for four years. Samara is an instructor/ Choreographer for multiple dance schools around the Philadelphia area which she trains girls age ranging from 5-18.

 

Samara is trained in multiple genres such as, Heels, Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Ballet, African, Lyrical and Hip-hop. Samara is currently a virtual movement teacher / Dance instructor at West Oaklane Charter school. Samara choreographed and danced for the song “Before I Let Go” and was recognized and reposted by Beyonce. Samara was a dancer in Saleka Shyamalan music video titled “Clarity” the video was released in September 2020 on all platforms. She is a passionate and driven dancer, performer, choreographer, and instructor.
